Our History

original charter document from Queen Victoria for st stephen curling club

The original charter for the St. Stephen Curling Club.

Curling in St. Stephen

Established in 1885, we are one of the oldest curling clubs in New Brunswick. In 1945 the club purchased our current facility, a previous skating rink built in 1922, and moved in. The club switched from natural ice to a refrigerated ice plant in 1948, greatly expanding the curling season. There had been an earlier indoor curling rink on natural ice prior to this, behind the old Queen Hotel now the Bank of Nova Scotia.

The Club is also home to arguably the longest continuously running bonspiel in New Brunswick, the Charlotte County Men's Bonspiel. This bonspiel has been held every year except during the 2021 COVID-19 pandemic closure.
